Sole Hope

Crafting for a Cause

You can make a direct impact on the life of someone seemingly a world away. Jigger bugs have devastating effects in Uganda, and one part of the solution is simply covering feet. We can help by starting the process of making shoes.

During our Sole Hope volunteer day we will trace patterns and cut shapes out of denim jeans.  These will be shipped to Uganda where local shoemakers and tailors will make shoes, upcycling old tires for the soles. Pairs are given out at medical clinics along with information about how to avoid jigger infestation.

If you have fabric scissors, bring them along to use. Sole Hope encourages a donation of $10 per pair of shoes prepared, but it is not required to attend our event. Donations of jean are welcome and can be dropped off at The Workspace in advance.

We welcome all ages as long as those under 16 are accompanied by an adult.
