Fun Facts
- The space that we now call The Underground was created in 1939 when students petitioned the State Board of Regents for a special 3-story Memorial Union addition that included a bowling ally. Each student voluntarily paid $2/year in fees to make this happen. To learn more about this interesting chapter in MU history, click here.
- In the 1940’s Karl Winkler painted a mural over the pinsetters featuring Rip Van Winkle. To see what the mural looked like, click here.
- Three strikes in a row is a called a turkey.
- Japan has the largest bowling center - consisting of 141 lanes!
