Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award
The ISU Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the 2010 Wallace E. Barron
All-University Senior Award.  Nominate a deserving ISU senior today!  The deadline to receive nominations is 5pm December 1, 2009.

The Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award was established in 1968 to
recognize outstanding ISU seniors who display high character, outstanding achievements in academics and university/community activities, and promise for continuing these exemplary qualities as alumni.

Applicants must be an undergraduate student with senior classification status (90+ credits) at the end of fall semester 2009 (seniors graduating fall 2009 are eligible to receive the award).  The recipient receives recognition at the ISU Alumni Association board of director’s luncheon on February 26, 2010, and at the ISU Ring Ceremony held on April 22, 2010.

Clubfest II Registration
Registration begins December 1 for ClubFest II!  Registration will be available at http://www.sac.iastate.edu/clubfest/. The event will take place Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 5-9pm in the Great Hall, Memorial Union. This is a great way to highlight your organization and reach out to the community of Iowa State University.

SCYP Grant Applications
Story County Youth Philanthropists (SCYP) invite non-profit organizations in Story County to apply for grants for up to $1,000.  SCYP will specifically fund projects that
1)      Encourage Story County residents to be welcoming and understanding of diverse cultures
2)      Support strong, stable families, children and youth
3)      Address community needs in the areas of education, health, mental health, poverty, financial instability and human services
4)      Strengthen the nonprofit sector by supporting nonprofit organizations, promoting philanthropy and encouraging civic involvement

The deadline to apply is Jan. 15, 2010.

Post Your Involvement and Leadership Opportunities
Post your leadership opportunities on the Student Activities Center website. Student Activities has created a posting board for leadership and other involvement opportunities in student organizations. Media Equipment Available
Media equipment (funded by GSB) and laptop computers (funded by CAC) are available for currently enrolled ISU students to borrow at no charge. There are also many media enhanced classrooms with equipment permanently installed.  Student Equipment and Laptop Checkout is located in the Communications Building, equipment may be checked out Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

Campus Organizations Accounting Office Closed 11/19-20

The Campus Organizations Accounting Office will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 19th and 20th while the Memorial Union installs sprinkler systems within the office area.  Please let Jamie Rehlander (jlr@iastate.edu) know if this should cause you any hardship for filing vouchers and we will make alternative arrangements to serve your needs during those two days.

Large Passenger Van Classroom Training
Large Passenger Van and Vehicles Towing Trailers Class is scheduled on the following dates:
* December 3, 2009
All classes are from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. This two-hour class is free for faculty, staff, and students taking the class for University business. Class is being held in the Fire Service Institute Building on Haber Road.

This class is part one of a two part class. The driving portion of the class will be offered at various times following the classroom training. Please watch our website, http://www.transportation.iastate.edu/,  for upcoming dates and times.

Both classes are required for student organizations renting 12 or 15 passenger vans or any vehicle towing a trailer. All drivers must also be at least 20 years old at time of departure.

Fundraising Ideas
Visit www.sac.iastate.edu/fundraising for information on a few funding sources on campus. We are also in the process of compiling fundraising ideas and will periodically update this section of the website with new opportunities as we’re made aware of them. For now we have a list of general ideas that might work for your organization.  If you have any questions about what we allow on campus or how to go about getting your idea approved please email sac@iastate.edu.

Mailboxes Available
A limited number of mailboxes are available on an annual basis for recognized organizations.  These are located in the West Student Office Space of the Memorial Union.  The application form is available on the Student Activities Center website at http://www.sub.iastate.edu/en/forms_and_applications/

Memorial Union Room Reservations
The Memorial Union Event Management office has begun taking reservations for the spring semester.  Recognized organizations have the benefit of using Memorial Union rooms at no cost. Your organization’s tier according to the Student Organization Recognition Policy will affect when you can reserve space in the Memorial Union for next spring.  The following dates will dictate when your student group can make reservations.

        November 2 – Sponsored Organizations
                        *Multicultural Student Organizations may make reservations during the first week for the Multicultural Center only.
        November 9 – Affiliated Organizations
        November 16 – Registered and Campus Organizations

3rd Annual Andy Albright Jingle Jog
The 5K run/walk returns December 2, but with a twist. Participants will receive bells for their sneakers, truly making it a "jingle" jog. Registration is from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the MU Cardinal Room. The race begins at 5:30 p.m. at the steps of Curtiss. Register in advance at www.fc.stuorg.iastate.edu. Cost is $15. To ensure your Long-Sleeve Jingle Jog T-Shirt register by November 19th. Proceeds benefit the Freshmen Council Andy Albright Scholarship fund.

Creative Careers Conference
The second annual Creative Careers Conference will be held November 17, 2009 from 3-6 pm in Iowa State’s Memorial Union.  The event will include a keynote speaker, breakout sessions in the areas of fashion, media communications and entertainment, sports marketing, entrepreneurship, and event planning, and networking.  Please join creative professionals and talented students to learn more about Creative Careers.  Free, no registration necessary. 

Give Some Warmth
Student Volunteer Services and other student services are collaborating in an effort to collect winter wear items for local people in need. The winter wear drive, Give Some Warmth, will be held from Monday, November 16 to Friday, December 4, 2009.

This winter share your warmth with someone in need and donate gently used mittens, scarves, hats and coats at ISUs annual Give Some Warmth winter wear drive. There will be various drop boxes across campus including most academic buildings, selected residence halls and Greek houses. Also on December 2nd there will be a table set up on the second floor of the memorial union across from the old hotel desk, with clothing items you can buy to donate to this event. http://www.stuorg.iastate.edu/volunteers/. Take some time this winter season and give some warmth!
