Leadership ISU (LAS 170) is leadership course designed to help first and second year students understand their own leadership style and prepare them to become campus student leaders. This course will provide students with an array of learning opportunities, resources, and the opportunity to work with current campus leaders (students, staff, and faculty). Leadership ISU course work is designed around the Social Change Model of Leadership. The course objectives are as follows:
- Provide a basic overview of leadership models.
- Become familiar with Iowa State University resources.
- Understand personal, group and societal values.
- Increase awareness and understanding of diverse groups.
- Demonstrate leadership in practice.
- Network with student leaders, staff members, and faculty.
- Understand and apply the Social Change Model of Leadership.
In this class, students are divided into several small working clusters which are run by an undergraduate and graduate facilitator. In addition to class work and cluster activities, students will be expected to complete several out of class assignments. These assignments will help students apply what they have learned to their lives.
Limited space is available for this class. The class is FULL for Fall 2011. If you have applied for the class, expect an email about your status by August 15.
