What is AltBreaks?
The Alternative Breaks program has been a great success and is now in its seventh year at Iowa State! The Iowa State University Alternative Breaks program places teams of students in communities across the United States to engage in community service during Spring Break. Students perform short-term projects for community agencies and learn about various social issues. Trip cost will range from $75-$250 per trip and varies depending on the distance traveled, housing accomodations necessary, and site-fees. The cost does includes transportation, lodging, meals, and a t-shirt. Food and excursion/sightseeing expenses will be incured by the participant. We do not want the cost to be a deciding factor in whether or not you take a trip. Please contact us at altbreaks@iastate.edu with concerns.

What is AltBreaks?
We are looking for enthusiastic students who are really committed to volunteerism and service, and are looking for a way to give back to the community during spring break. Our selection process will be competitive, based on this application, and an interview. Completing this application does not guarantee you an interview.

If you are excited about devoting a week of your college life to service, having a great time and forming lasting memories, you are the perfect person to go on an Alternative Breaks trip.
