
Overview
Leadership ISU (University
Studies 170) is leadership course designed to help students understand
their own leadership style and prepare them to become campus student
leaders. This course will provide students with an array of learning
opportunities, resources, and the opportunity to work with current
campus leaders (students, staff, and faculty). Leadership ISU course
work is designed around the Social Change Model of Leadership, for
more information click here. The course objectives are as follows:
• Provide a basic overview of leadership models.
• Become familiar with Iowa State University resources.
• Understand personal, group and societal values.
• Increase awareness and understanding of diverse groups.
• Demonstrate leadership in practice.
• Network with student leaders and staff members.
• Understand and apply the Social Change Model of Leadership.
This course will
be divided into several small working clusters which will be run by
both an undergraduate and graduate facilitator. In addition to class
work and cluster activities, students will be expected to complete
several out of class assignments. These assignments will help students
apply what they have learned to real life.
