Overview

Leadership ISU (University Studies 170) is leadership course designed to help students understand their own leadership style and prepare them to become campus student leaders. This course will provide students with an array of learning opportunities, resources, and the opportunity to work with current campus leaders (students, staff, and faculty). Leadership ISU course work is designed around the Social Change Model of Leadership, for more information click here. The course objectives are as follows:

• Provide a basic overview of leadership models.
• Become familiar with Iowa State University resources.
• Understand personal, group and societal values.
• Increase awareness and understanding of diverse groups.
• Demonstrate leadership in practice.
• Network with student leaders and staff members.
• Understand and apply the Social Change Model of Leadership.

This course will be divided into several small working clusters which will be run by both an undergraduate and graduate facilitator. In addition to class work and cluster activities, students will be expected to complete several out of class assignments. These assignments will help students apply what they have learned to real life.
