Junkyard Samurai is a hip-hop supergroup collab between Chicago’s The Palmer Squares and ProbCause.

The Palmer Squares originally began as an inside joke amongst high school friends and unexpectedly morphed into a legitimate hip-hop duo that has garnered praise from some of the most respected veterans in the game. Despite never having the urge to pen a verse before, friends Acumental and Terminal Knowledge conspired amongst themselves to poke fun of the prevailing trends. After sharing these ridiculous parodies with their close friends, they were showered with the anticipated laughs, but also received an overwhelming, unexpected response they could have never foreseen: “write more; this is amazing!” Thus, The Palmer Squares were born.

With a polished sound that spans far outside the boundaries of hip-hop, ProbCause seamlessly jumps from dubstep, to glitch-hop, to R&B than back to a classic boom-bap gritty rap sound. With stories that make you reminisce, and a percussive delivery that highlights his unique production, ProbCause is one of the most exciting and versatile touring acts and recording artists around today. He released his breakout album, The Recipe Volume 2, in 2013. Featuring a diverse array of talent including Chance the Rapper, Action Bronson, Psalm One, poet Kevin Coval, and more, it was lauded as “a fantastic snapshot of Chicago’s hip-hop community” by the Chicago Reader, and placed at No. 9 on the Chicago Tribune’s list of the Top Chicago Indie Albums of 2013.
