Women in Science and Engineering

WiSE provides support to undergraduate Womxn* pursuing 50+ Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) majors at Iowa State University through advocating for diversity and inclusion through opportunities, resources and support.

The Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics

The Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics was founded in 1992 at Iowa State University to interest, educate and engage citizens in the political process. In carrying out its mission, the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics works with faculty, staff and students throughout the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Iowa State University, leaders in the public and private sectors, and political and women’s organizations throughout the university, state and nation. Thus, the center’s programs blend the resources and scholarship of the academic environment with the experiences of practitioners in fields important to the political process.

The Margaret Sloss Center for Women and Gender Equity

The Margaret Sloss Center for Women and Gender Equity at Iowa State University is committed to the development of a campus community that promotes gender equity and social justice. Through a feminist lens, the Sloss Center advocates for individuals and groups; provides support and referrals; and offers programming and educational resources for the advancement of gender equity.

Green Dot

Green Dot at Iowa State University aims to decrease power-based personal violence on campus by utilizing education, outreach, and development as mechanisms for increasing awareness and competency around bystander intervention skills. A green dot symbolizes a single moment in time that can be used to end perpetration or support victims of power-based personal violence.  Through your words, choices and actions in any given moment, you can add a green dot to our map and make a difference. Leadership Studies Program

Effective leadership is a reflective process that cultivates self awareness, equity, collaboration, and empathy. The Leadership Studies Program helps students understand the leadership process, expand the contexts for their intentional leadership practice, and learn how to cultivate leadership in others.

Division of Diversity and Inclusion

In alignment with President Wintersteen's focus on making Iowa State a national leader in creating a welcoming and inclusive campus environment, the aim of the Division of Diversity and Inclusion is to promote critical thinking; responsible management of people; professional skills development; innovation in research, teaching and learning; and the constructive expression of divergent viewpoints.

University Committee on the Advancement of Women and Gender Equity

The University Committee for the Advancement of Women and Gender Equity (UCW) is an active and involved committee that works to advance gender equity within the university community. UCW has diverse membership from across the Iowa State University campus and brings in diverse perspectives. Included in our purview is: increasing gender equity in leadership positions; eliminating barriers and addressing organizational structures and policies that act as impediments to gender equity; and working to improve the climate on campus with regard to gender equity for all students, staff, and faculty. 

Lectures Program

The Iowa State Lectures Series is a collaborative effort between the Student Government and the Office of the Provost. The Lectures Series brings to campus a broad spectrum of talks; political debates; academic forums; and cultural events, including musical performances, art and dance programs, and films. All Lectures Series events are free and open to the public.
