Present at the 2018 Iowa State Leadership Experience

If you're looking for an opportunity to practice your presentation skills and help other students develop and expand their leadership skill set, then submit a session proposal for this year's Iowa State Leadership Experience! This is an annual leadership program to help student leaders improve their leadership skills, learn about leadership opportunities at ISU and network with other leaders across campus.

Advertise Your Organization in the Get Involved Booklet

Looking for a cool way to advertise your student org? Each semester, the Student Activities Center (SAC) produces a full-color booklet, Get Involved, that highlights student involvement opportunities including joining or starting student orgs, an overview of arts and entertainment opportunities, as well as leadership and service programs and the benefits of being involved. Copies of the booklet will be handed out at Spring ClubFest and mailed to residence halls. As an advertiser, you will reach thousands of students who are seeking ways to get involved, meet new people, and make their own ISU experience a meaningful one. 

To reserve your space, just fill out the Ad Space Request Form by Friday, December 1. Email sacgibook@iastate.edu with any questions.

Apply to be on the Cyclone Carnival Planning Committee

Applications for the Cyclone Carnival Planning Committee are now open! Cyclone Carnival is an expansion of Cyclone Market. At this event, the goal is to have sales, performances and activities hosted by student organizations, food vendors, carnival rides & games, interactive novelties, family activities, and more!

Apply for the Student Government Green Initiatives Fund

The ISU Green Initiatives Fund supports student initiatives on campus that promote environmental, social, and economic sustainability. This allotment is accessible to all student organizations should they require financial assistance in pursuing a project that directly relates to sustainability. For more information, contact Lia Gomez, at lvgomez@iastate.edu. Student orgs interested in applying for this funding can download the application HERE. The application deadline has been extended to Friday, November 25th, 2017.

Fundraising Opportunity with CyBowl & Billiards

The CyBowl Giveback Program is an exciting, new way to fundraise and promote your organization! Held in CyBowl & Billiards, this fundraiser will give your student org 25 percent of the revenue earned from bowling, shoe rental or billiards from any guest that presents the giveback invitation/flyer. Giveback events are held 12pm - close on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday based on the orgs preference and the availability of CyBowl & Billiards. 

Your Giveback Reservation Request should be submitted a minimum of ten class days prior to the date of the event. You should definitely learn more about this program!

Submit a Session Proposal for the Iowa State Conference on Race and Ethnicity

The Iowa State Conference on Race and Ethnicity (ISCORE) is a comprehensive forum on issues of race and ethnicity at Iowa State University and beyond. The local conference is designed to model the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education (NCORE). ISCORE seeks to bring the more salient ideas and concepts of the national conference to Iowa State University, add local perspectives, and:

  1. Develop and enhance ISU student, faculty, and staff awareness of racial and ethnic issues in higher education around the country.

  2. Continue to promote addressing multiculturalism in the classroom and in American higher education.

  3. Make information, regarding issues of race and ethnicity, accessible to the entire university community and support the university’s ongoing efforts.

ISCORE is currently accepting session proposals for both the pre-conference on February 28, 2018, as well as the full conference on March 2, 2018. All proposals must include the following:

  • Title

  • Abstract of 200 words or less to be used in the conference program

  • Presenter(s) information

    • Name as it should appear in the program

    • Job title or academic classification (graduate, senior, junior, etc.)

    • Department or major

    • Contact information of presenter(s) (mailing address, phone number, and email)

Submit your proposal HERE by Friday, November 17.

Nominate Someone for the Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award

It’s time to think about nominating a deserving senior for the Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award.  This award recognizes outstanding ISU seniors who display high character, outstanding achievements in academics, leadership and university/community activities, and promise for continuing these exemplary qualities as alumni.

Applicants must be an undergraduate student with senior classification status (90+ credits) and a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of fall semester 2017 (seniors graduating fall 2017 are eligible to receive the award).  The recipient receives a class ring and recognition at a luncheon in April. Nomination forms are available online at: isualum.org/barron. Submit your nominations on or before December 1.

Student Conduct: "Know the Code" for Student Organizations and Officers

The Office of Student Conduct has been working hard this summer on preparing educational materials for students, student org officers, staff and faculty related to the disciplinary regulations.  We are pleased to announce that we have developed a website that is filled with resources (infographics, pamphlets, videos, etc.) that are intended to assist students in understanding the universities’ expectations of their behavior.  http://knowthecode.dso.iastate.edu/ 

Additionally, a video has been made available that explains the sexual misconduct policy, ways to report, and the university process.  Student Conduct asks all student org officers to view this video and share it with your members (http://knowthecode.dso.iastate.edu/resources/sexual-misconduct).

Apply to be a Campus Visits Student Associate

Campus Visits is seeking energetic, professional, and organized student associates for Spring 2018.  Strong candidates should have excellent customer service/guest relations skills.  Additionally, this person will learn more about campus visits, admissions, guest relations and event facilitation. This position plays an essential role in the campus visits program by providing excellent customer serve to visiting students and families. Duties include welcoming and checking in students and families during campus visits, staffing the front desk of the Soults Family Visitor Center, answering questions in person and on the phone, and other tasks as needed.

This paid position provides the opportunity to work up to 20 hours each week (January – May).

Looking for on-campus employment? The Student Loan Education Office is currently hiring up to 15 Peer Financial Educators. These Peer Financial Educators will assist with the new online financial literacy training, Cyclone CashCourse, aimed to educate students on budgeting and money management. These peer educators will also be available at various locations around campus for students to meet with and discuss the online content further. Students in this position will earn $10.00/hour.

If you're looking for ways to improve your marketing, leadership, and communication skills, consider applying to be an Academic Success Center (ASC) Peer Ambassador! The Academic Success Center has created this paid student position to engage with other undergraduate students needing academic resources. In this role, ASC Peer Ambassadors will assist with presentations, outreach events, and general promotion of the office.
